Material-first engineering for aggressive media and demanding cycles
This range of PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) valve bodies is machined from a high-performance semi-crystalline engineering plastic selected for its combination of outstanding chemical resistance, high-temperature stability and dimensional rigidity. PPS resists attack from acids, bases, hydrocarbons and most solvents, while maintaining its shape under pressure and heat — the ideal material for valve bodies, manifolds and fluid-handling components in chemical, water-treatment and medical equipment.
Each valve body is CNC-machined from solid PPS stock, allowing precise control of multi-port internal geometry, seal faces and threaded ports — features that are difficult or uneconomical to achieve through injection moulding for low-volume, custom or prototype programs.
Why we machine this valve body from PPS
| Property | Typical Value | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Density | ≈ 1.35 g/cm³ | Rigid yet lightweight body |
| Tensile Strength | ≈ 90 MPa | Withstands line pressure & torque |
| Continuous Use Temp. | Up to 200 °C | Handles hot media & steam lines |
| HDT @ 1.82 MPa | ≈ 110 °C (unfilled) | Stable under load at temperature |
| Chemical Resistance | Excellent — acids, bases, solvents | Long service life with aggressive fluids |
| Water Absorption | < 0.05 % | Minimal swelling, stable sealing |
| Flammability | UL94 V-0 (inherent) | Inherently flame retardant |
| Dimensional Stability | Very high, low creep | Tight tolerances hold over time |
| Compliance | FDA / food-contact & biocompatible grades | Safe for potable & medical fluid lines |

PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) is a high-performance semi-crystalline engineering plastic with near-universal chemical resistance, high-temperature stability (continuous use up to 200 °C) and excellent dimensional rigidity. These properties make it an ideal material for valve bodies and fluid-handling parts exposed to aggressive media and repeated cycling.
PPS offers excellent resistance to acids, bases, hydrocarbons and most solvents, with very low moisture absorption (< 0.05 %) and inherent UL94 V-0 flame retardance. It is suitable for continuous service up to roughly 200 °C, making it a strong choice for hot chemical and steam lines.
Standard dimensional tolerance is ±0.02 mm, with ±0.01 mm on critical features. Seal faces are lapped to a flatness of ≤ 0.01 mm, and surface finishes range from Ra 0.8 to 1.6 µm for reliable, leak-tight sealing.
Yes. We machine the full range of high-performance plastics — including PEEK, PEI (Ultem™), PTFE, PVDF, POM and nylon — as well as aluminum and stainless steel. Port sizes, thread types (NPT / BSP / metric) and internal geometries are all custom-machined to your drawing.
We accept STEP, IGES, STL and 2D PDF/DWG drawings. Prototypes are typically delivered within 5–10 working days, with low MOQ for custom projects. Provide your drawings and target quantity for an accurate quotation.
Send your drawing and application details — we will recommend the ideal material and deliver a precision-machined PPS valve body built to your specification.
